Dr. Bai was the executive chair of the 2012 International Conference on Construction and Real Estate Management in Kansas City from October 1-2, 2012.

Dr. Bai was the chair of the Technical Committee of the 9th Asia Pacific Transportation Development Conference in Chongqing, China from May 25-28, 2012.

Dr. Bai was named the chair of the Department of Construction Management and Engineering at NDSU and started his role in July, 2012.

Dr. Bai's book titled "Highway Bridge Replacement" was published by Nova Science Publishers, Inc. in 2011.

Dr. Bai was elected as an ASCE Fellow in 2010.

Dr. Bai organized the NSF sponsored workshop on rapid bridge replacement in China in June, 2009.
